Pump Engineer – Systems Engineering (Nuclear)

We are seeking a qualified Pump Engineer to join its Systems Engineering department within the Corporate Engineering division. This role supports the design and development of systems for nuclear power plants, including Holtec’s flagship SMR-300 small modular reactor program.

The Systems Engineering department serves as a center of excellence, providing engineering support across multiple Holtec subsidiaries. The Pump Engineer will be responsible for developing pump requirements and specifications, supporting nuclear licensing activities, and contributing to the design and construction of next-generation nuclear facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and manage requirements and specifications for pumps used in nuclear power plant systems.
• Support engineering and licensing activities for the SMR-300 program.
• Review and prepare pump procurement specification.
• Evaluate pump design, operation, maintenance, and testing considerations.
• Assess pump maintenance impacts on power plant operations and outages.
• Interface with internal engineering teams, vendors, and manufacturers.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and reports.

Education & Experience Requirements

• English required
• Degree in an engineering discipline
• In-depth knowledge of pump design, operation, maintenance, and testing
• Experience developing and/or reviewing pump procurement specifications for nuclear power plants
• Familiarity with nuclear power plant maintenance and outage considerations
• Strong technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Exposure to established engineering tools such as: Pipe-Flo, HTRI, Mathcad
