HVAC Design Engineer

We are seeking an HVAC Design Engineer to join a growing multidisciplinary engineering team designing next-generation nuclear power plants. This role supports the design of HVAC systems for buildings within the SMR-300 small modular reactor power plant and involves close collaboration with other engineering disciplines, licensing groups, contractors, and vendors.

This position requires strong technical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to develop practical engineering solutions to complex design challenges.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems for nuclear power plant buildings.
• Support contractors with HVAC system design recommendations.
• Collaborate with vendors to develop and confirm designs for specialized HVAC equipment.
• Review process flow diagrams, P&IDs/D&IDs, system descriptions, specifications, and control logic.
• Perform thermal, pressure loss, breathing air, and room/building air leakage calculations.
• Develop equipment specifications and evaluate vendor technical input.
• Review vendor and contractor designs for compliance with industry standards and system requirements.
• Participate actively in an integrated, multidisciplinary project engineering team.

Education & Experience Requirements

• English required
• Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related discipline
• Strong academic background in HVAC engineering
• 5–10 years of experience designing HVAC systems for the energy industry
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality technical documentation
• Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, and computer skills
