Grid Specialist HV-HVDC

A leading European transmission organisation is seeking a Grid Specialist to support system-level planning, grid integration and HV/HVDC connection studies across the 110–380 kV network. The role involves detailed analysis of future connections, reinforcements, capacity constraints and power-system behaviour. English is widely used, and international candidates are welcome.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform grid studies including load flow, contingency analysis, voltage stability and fault-level assessments.
- Support the integration of HVDC links, offshore wind assets and major industrial connections.
- Evaluate capacity requests and connection options for new projects.
- Develop system-level requirements and technical conditions for new assets.
- Collaborate with engineering, system operations, planning, protection and external partners.
- Contribute to long-term transmission planning and reinforcement strategies.
- Review third-party studies, validate assumptions and challenge design proposals.
- Participate in cross-border and cross-disciplinary working groups.
- Provide technical guidance during early design and permitting phases.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or Energy Technology
- 3–7+ years experience in HV transmission, power system studies or grid planning
- Knowledge of load-flow tools (PowerFactory, PSS®E, PSCAD or equivalent)
- Understanding of 110–380 kV systems, substations and HVDC/AC integration
- Ability to analyse system behaviour and translate findings into technical requirements
- Strong communication skills
- English required

- Protection & Control engineers wanting broader system responsibility
- Experience in network code compliance or interconnector integration
- HVDC modelling or converter control experience
