Key Responsibilities of the Role

  • Lead and promote a strong, proactive EHS culture across construction projects.
  • Support the continued development and improvement of EHS management systems and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Provide guidance on Irish health, safety and environmental legislation and associated compliance requirements.
  • Oversee relevant PSDP and PSCS requirements, contractor compliance and pre-qualification processes.
  • Conduct and oversee project audits, site inspections and EHS performance reviews.
  • Manage and review risk assessments, action tracking and the company risk register.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring lessons learned and corrective actions are effectively implemented.
  • Monitor subcontractor EHS performance and promote continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.
  • Review project EHS performance, analyse trends and prepare management reports and KPIs.
  • Provide technical EHS guidance to Project Managers, Site Managers and wider project teams.
  • Support project planning to ensure health, safety and environmental considerations are embedded from the outset.
  • Deliver mandatory safety training and support ongoing EHS learning and development.
  • Mentor and develop EHS personnel, providing guidance and support to strengthen capability across the team.
  • Work collaboratively with wider business functions to support employee wellbeing and psychological safety initiatives.
  • Support communication, change-management and continuous-improvement initiatives across the organisation.
  • Act as a key point of contact with relevant regulatory bodies where required.

 

Your Qualifications and Key Criteria

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety at NFQ Level 7 or above, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Approximately 5-8 years’ senior EHS experience within the construction industry.
  • Strong practical understanding of Irish health and safety legislation and construction EHS requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience managing or supporting ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment, incident investigation, auditing and corrective-action management.
  • Experience monitoring EHS performance across construction projects and subcontractor operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring or developing EHS professionals.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with site teams, subcontractors, Project Managers and senior leadership.
  • Strong reporting and analytical capability with experience interpreting EHS performance data and KPIs.
  • Confident training and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively supporting multiple projects and priorities.
  • Full clean driving licence.

 

Desirable Additional Experience

  • PSDP/PSCS qualification or demonstrable experience working with these requirements.
  • Experience operating within a main-contractor environment.
  • Experience supporting wellbeing, behavioural safety or psychological-safety initiatives.
  • Experience contributing to organisational EHS strategy and continuous improvement.
