Mechanical Systems Turnover Engineer

Key Responsibilities of the Role

•  Coordinate mechanical system completion and turnover activities across assigned project areas.
• Support the development and implementation of systemisation and turnover requirements.
• Track mechanical systems from construction completion through inspection, testing and handover.
• Carry out and coordinate system walkdowns with relevant construction, QA/QC and commissioning personnel.
• Identify, record and track punch-list items through to close-out.
• Verify that mechanical installations are sufficiently complete and compliant before turnover.
• Coordinate outstanding construction, quality and documentation requirements affecting system handover.
• Work closely with site teams to prioritise completion activities in line with commissioning requirements and the project programme.
• Support testing, flushing, reinstatement and other pre-commissioning activities as applicable to individual systems.
• Coordinate with QA/QC teams to confirm required inspections and quality records have been completed.
• Compile, review and track mechanical turnover documentation and handover packs.
• Verify that relevant inspection records, test documentation, certificates and supporting project records are available for turnover.
• Maintain accurate system completion and turnover trackers.
• Monitor outstanding actions and provide clear progress reporting to project stakeholders.
• Liaise closely with commissioning teams to understand system priorities and readiness requirements.
• Support the formal transfer of completed systems from construction into commissioning.
• Assist with the resolution of technical or documentation issues preventing system acceptance.
• Ensure turnover activities are completed in a structured, traceable and quality-focused manner.

Your Qualifications and Key Criteria

• Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification or strong equivalent mechanical construction experience.
• Previous experience within mechanical construction, systems completion, turnover, QA/QC or commissioning.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and construction processes.
• Practical understanding of mechanical completion, punch management, testing and commissioning readiness.
• Experience with system walkdowns and close-out activities.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Strong appreciation of the documentation required to support mechanical system turnover.
• Ability to understand system boundaries, interfaces and completion requirements.
• Strong organisational and documentation-management skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident coordinating actions across construction, QA/QC, engineering and commissioning teams.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple systems and competing priorities while maintaining accurate records.
• Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues that could delay system turnover.
