Construction Planner

Key Responsibilities of the Role

• Develop realistic, logic-driven construction programmes based on sound construction methodology.
• Work with Project Managers, Site Managers and Engineers to establish sequencing, dependencies and programme requirements.
• Support programme development from tender and pre-construction through live delivery and completion.
• Visit project sites to assess progress, constraints and upcoming activities, updating programmes to reflect live conditions.
• Review drawings, specifications and project information to establish appropriate programme activities.
• Identify programme risks, delays and sequencing conflicts, working with project teams to develop practical solutions.
• Prepare short-term and longer-term lookahead programmes.
• Contribute practical construction knowledge during project and planning meetings.
• Prepare programme and progress updates for project teams, management and clients.

Your Qualifications and Key Criteria

• A background in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management or a related construction discipline.
• Strong practical experience delivering construction projects on site, ideally as a Site Engineer, Senior Site Engineer, Site Manager, Project Manager, Planner or similar.
• Strong understanding of construction methodology and the full project lifecycle.
• Ability to sequence construction activities logically and understand dependencies between trades and work packages.
• A minimum of 8-10 years industry experience, across varied building types and construction methods is strongly preferred.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and judgement, with the confidence to challenge programme assumptions where necessary.
• Exposure to Microsoft Project or comparable construction programming software would be advantageous but is not essential.
