Key Responsibilities of the Role
- Provide technical support and coordination across mechanical systems and associated project activities.
- Review drawings, specifications, technical documentation and project requirements.
- Coordinate mechanical system interfaces with construction, electrical, controls, commissioning and other disciplines.
- Support the planning and sequencing of mechanical installation activities.
- Monitor mechanical works to ensure installations align with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Identify technical issues, clashes, constraints and system interfaces and support their timely resolution.
- Work closely with supervisors, subcontractors and engineering teams to maintain progress across mechanical work packages.
- Support inspection, testing and verification activities.
- Assist with system walkdowns and the identification and close-out of outstanding works.
- Coordinate technical queries and ensure relevant information is communicated effectively to project teams.
- Support mechanical completion and system readiness activities.
- Liaise with QA/QC and commissioning teams to ensure systems are appropriately prepared for testing and turnover.
- Support the review and compilation of relevant technical and handover documentation.
- Participate in coordination, progress and technical meetings.
- Maintain accurate records of system progress, technical issues and outstanding actions.
- Promote high standards of safety, quality and technical compliance throughout project delivery.
Your Qualifications and Key Criteria
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Previous mechanical engineering experience within a construction, engineering or industrial project environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, installation practices and construction methodology.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Good understanding of the relationship between installation, inspection, testing, mechanical completion and commissioning.
- Experience coordinating mechanical works across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong technical problem-solving capability and ability to identify system interfaces and constraints.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Comfortable working with project managers, engineers, supervisors, QA/QC teams, commissioning personnel and subcontractors.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple systems and priorities.
- Practical, delivery-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
