Senior Safety Officer

Key Responsibilities of the Role

• Monitor and promote compliance with EHS policies, ISO management systems and relevant health, safety and environmental regulations across project sites.
• Support the development of a positive safety culture through engagement with site teams, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
• Manage day-to-day EHS activities including site inspections, inductions, permit-to-work systems, RAMS reviews, safety queries and corrective actions.
• Assist project teams with risk management, environmental compliance and the implementation of appropriate control measures.
• Support incident and near-miss investigations, safety reporting and the implementation of EHS action plans.
• Monitor subcontractor EHS performance and address areas of non-compliance.
• Drive behavioural safety initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement across project teams.
• Provide leadership and support to junior EHS team members.
• Contribute to lessons learned and EHS performance improvement initiatives.
• Build effective working relationships with Project Managers, Site Managers, subcontractors and wider project stakeholders.
• Promote a culture where safety, environmental performance and regulatory compliance are integral to successful project delivery.

Your Qualifications and Key Criteria

• Significant experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental role within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of Irish health and safety legislation, environmental management systems and ISO standards.
• Practical experience conducting site inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations and RAMS reviews.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to influence positive safety behaviours and build strong working relationships across project teams.
• Strong organisational, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities within a busy construction environment.
• Proactive and collaborative approach to health, safety and environmental management.
• Strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
